Nasdaq Announces Mid-Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date March 15, 2019


NEW YORK, March 26, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of March 15, 2019, short interest in 2,359 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,804,885,951 shares compared with 7,689,702,073 shares in 2,355 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of February 28, 2019. The mid-March short interest represents 3.71 compared with 4.12 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 958 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 843,620,258 shares at the end of the settlement date of March 15, 2019 compared with 830,606,162 shares in 958 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.82 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 3.20.

In summary, short interest in all 3,317 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,648,506,209 shares at the March 15, 2019 settlement date, compared with 3,317 issues and 8,520,308,235 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.60 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.01 for the prior reporting period.
