Beer Store Warehouse Clerks in London and Windsor Vote to Ratify – UFCW 12R24


LONDON, Ontario, April 02, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Beer Store Warehouse Clerks in London and Windsor, Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 12R24, have voted unanimously to ratify their second Collective Agreement as Local 12R24 members.

“We achieved many significant improvements in this round of bargaining,” says Doug Blaine, Secretary-Treasurer and bargaining committee spokesperson. “We fought hard and the results were obvious,” continues Blaine.

Beer Store warehouse clerks in London and Windsor voted to join the union in May 2016.

“This is a great contract for our membership,” says Lauren Hamilton, Union Steward and Bargaining Committee member. “In this contract we were able to achieve more full-time and permanent part-time positions, increased benefits, and significant wage increases for all workers,” continues Hamilton.

UFCW 12R24 is the union representing over 6,000 employees working at The Beer Store in the province of Ontario.

UFCW 12R24’s bargaining committee members included: Doug Blaine, Secretary-Treasurer, Service Representative & Committee Spokesperson; Craig McDowell, Recorder/Organizing and Political Action; Lauren Hamilton, Steward (London Distribution Centre), Andrew Berthiaume, Member (Windsor Cross – Dock).
