AVGL’S “APRIL ANARCHY” IS HERE

MOBILE EDGE SPONSORS THE LARGEST SPRING ESPORTS EVENT IN NORTH AMERICA

Anaheim, April 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ANAHEIM, CA (April 11, 2019)—In a demonstration of its ongoing commitment to the eSports industry and its competitors and fans, Mobile Edge has partnered with the American Video Game League (AVGL) as a sponsor of April Anarchy, the largest Spring collegiate eSports event in North America.

“Mobile Edge and gamers have a long and supportive history together,” explains Paul June, VP of Marketing for Mobile Edge. “Since our founding in 2002, we’ve been at the forefront of creating new and innovative ways for gamers to transport all their tech safely, conveniently, and in style, including our own award-winning Core Gaming products and accessories.”

Representing some 1,200 colleges throughout North America, the AVGL produces and promotes online competitive eSports leagues and tournaments, large in-person events, and offers team/club support in the form of exclusive events, sponsorship support, content production, and scholarship opportunities.

This year’s competition features eight top collegiate LAN events during April running Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (“CS: GO”) tournaments. Colleges participating are Colorado State University, Rutgers` University, Indiana University Bloomington, Iowa State University, University of Akron, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, and UNC Charlotte.

In parallel with these eight LAN tournaments, AVGL is hosting a nationwide CS: GO online qualifier April 27 and 28. The top team from each of the eight LAN events, along with the top eight teams from the online qualifier, will then compete in an online championship in May. The championship will be livestreamed on AVGL’s Twitch channel (twitch.tv/AVGL).

The winning team receives product prizes and a trip to DreamHack Dallas, a three-day gaming festival, as well as tickets to the Corsair DreamHack Masters Diamond event, which includes afterparty access, a backstage tour, a custom jersey, and more.

As part of its sponsorship of the April Anarchy event, Mobile Edge will be contributing Core Gaming Backpacks and other gear to each of the winning teams.

“April Anarchy and other AVGL events represent opportunities for brands such as Mobile Edge to connect with leading college eSports clubs and varsity programs as video gaming continues to become more and more popular as a player and spectator sport,” says June. “When we introduced the Core backpacks in 2017, we went right to the source for inspiration, working with gamers to design and manufacture a bag built by gamers for gamers that also offered a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Early on, we realized that gamers have a lot invested in their tech, so as their needs evolve, so too do the gaming bags, gear, and apparel we manufacture.”
