BSSP Expands Team, Adds Partners to Accommodate Agency Growth

Independent Creative Agency Adds New Creative Director, Associate Strategy Director, and Two Creative Teams; Elevates Partners to Round Out Leadership

SAUSALITO, Calif., April 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Independent creative agency BSSP announced today six new hires and the elevation of two tenured executives to agency partners. The move comes on the heels of the recent appointment of Chief Creative Officer (CCO), Matthew Curry, to agency partner and signals continued growth and momentum for the agency and its leadership.

With over 18 years of advertising experience, Anders Gustafsson joins BSSP as the agency’s new Creative Director, reporting to Curry. Before joining BSSP, Gustafsson held Creative Director positions at ARGONAUT, TBWA/Media Arts Lab, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and Crispin, Porter + Bogusky. His portfolio of work includes the global Apple TV launch, work for iPhone, iMac, Adobe, Cricket Wireless, the GRAMMY Awards, Haagen-Dazs, Heinz, MetLife, Scandinavian Airlines, and most recently the U.S. relaunch of Honey Bunches of Oats. He has garnered numerous awards from Cannes Lions, The One Show, CLIO Awards, D&AD, and London International. At BSSP, Anders will work across the agency’s roster of clients, including Mitsubishi, City of Hope, Greyhound and others.

“Anders is part creative genius, part expert craftsman, and part mad scientist -- the exact cocktail we were looking for,” said Matthew Curry, CCO of BSSP. “He’s also the most comprehensive source for all things Norwegian Black Metal. We couldn’t be happier to have him.”

Also reporting to Curry and CEO, David Eastman, will be BSSP’s new Associate Strategy Director, Sohail Bhatia. Bhatia joins BSSP from adam&eve DDB in London, where he spent the last two years defining strategy on Volkswagen, Save the Children, and Lipton. Prior to that he was at Clemenger BBDO in Australia, working on clients spanning consumer packaged goods, banking, telecommunications, aviation and medical industries. At BSSP, Bhatia will work on new business, as well as the agency’s Mitsubishi, City of Hope, and Blue Shield clients.

“Sohail caught our attention with his deep expertise and unique background,” said Eastman. “He is a strong, original thinker with an impressive caliber of international experience and will be a great addition to the team.”

Further supporting the agency’s creative are new Art Directors, Savannah Hicks and Lynn Nakamura, as well as Copywriters Ashley Suarez Wood and Kate Ursu. Nakamura and Ursu come from Facebook where they worked as a team on Facebook’s Year in Review campaign for 2018. Suarez Wood and Hicks join BSSP from Intel Inside, where they helped create the Olympic Games Drone Show.

Managing Director, Lindsay Grant, and Executive Director of Integrated Production, Vince Genovese, have also been appointed partners at the agency, further bolstering BSSP’s leadership team.

Over the past few months, the agency has experienced continued growth with several new client wins, including leading Los Angeles-based cancer center, City of Hope Hospital, fast-growing wellness CPG brand, Traditional Medicinals, and project work with a leading sports apparel brand.
