Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund adds Wynne Baker to Financial Institution Consulting Practice to strengthen Tennessee presence

NASHVILLE, Tenn. and TAMPA, Fla., April 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saltmarsh, Cleaveland and Gund, one of the largest CPA-led business advisory firms in the southeastern U.S., announces that well-known national  financial institution and accounting industry professional Wynne E. Baker, CPA, CBA, CFSA and CFF, has joined the firm as a director in the Financial Institution Advisory Group.

The strategic move follows the announcement last fall that respected long-time Tennessee financial institution compliance specialist Connie Edwards, CRCM, joined Saltmarsh as shareholder and leader of the firm’s Financial Institution Consulting Practice in Tennessee and surrounding areas.

“Wynne brings tremendous knowledge and experience to our ever-growing Financial Institution Advisory Group. He and Connie make up a stellar team that will be instrumental in helping our regional and national clients in the banking and financial services navigate the emerging trends and competitive, economic and regulatory issues facing the industry today,” said Lee Bell, CPA, Saltmarsh president.

“Both are well known and respected nationally for their expertise, knowledge, professional acumen and dedication to superior levels of service. We welcome Wynne as the newest addition to our Saltmarsh team as we continue to execute our firm’s growth vision,” said Bill Massey, CPA, shareholder and financial institution practice leader.

Edwards previously served as president and CEO of her own compliance consulting practice Banc Compliance Group, LLC, where she worked extensively with institutions regulated by the Federal Reserve’s Atlanta and St. Louis District offices; the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency; and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

With more than 40 years’ experience, Baker has advised financial institutions through all stages, from consulting on the establishment of new bank charters to buying failed banks from the FDIC. He will specialize in advisory services, relationship management, industry training and public speaking for the firm. Baker has decades of litigation experience and has served as an expert witness in 75+ bank failures and frauds court cases across the country. He authored AICPA’s premier bank course, co-edited The Handbook of Financial Management for Banks and led training for the FDIC and OCC.
