Zoom Achieves FedRAMP Moderate Authorization

Sponsored by DHS, Zoom Can Now Be Used by US Federal Government Agencies

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Zoom Video Communications, Inc. today announced that its authorization under the US Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) has been approved, with the sponsorship of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This authorization allows US Federal Government agencies and contractors to securely use Zoom for Government for video meetings, API integrations, and more.

FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. FedRAMP enables agencies to rapidly adapt from aged, insecure legacy technology infrastructure to mission-critical, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based technology. The goal of FedRAMP is to accelerate the adoption of secure cloud solutions through reuse of assessments and authorizations.

Zoom for Government provides significant benefits to customers. The Zoom API platform enables the development of agency-specific applications with Zoom features. In addition, Zoom Rooms can turn government offices into a modern, easy-to-use, and powerful collaborative workspaces, using the same secure network. Zoom’s reliable VoIP also enables agencies to drastically reduce their PSTN audio costs. Zoom for Government runs on AWS GovCloud, a secured network that enables customers to deploy applications and data.

“After revolutionizing the way businesses communicate over video by consolidating all communications in a unified, high-performing platform, we value the opportunity to be introduced to federal agencies,” said Richard Farley, chief information security officer for Zoom.

“We are excited to partner with the US Department of Homeland Security and General Services Administration in Zoom for Government’s FedRAMP Authorization. Zoom is fully committed to supporting US government agencies in upgrading their legacy services to our video-first unified communications platform. Video is a catalyst to collaboration amongst teams and an accelerant to digital transformation - benefits you just cannot get from an email, chat, or audio conference,” added Harry Moseley, chief information officer for Zoom.

Zoom for Government can be purchased via the General Services Administration Schedule 70 GS-35F-303DA.
