WorldBlu recognizes Widen’s commitment to freedom and democracy at work

MADISON, Wis., May 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Widen, a provider of digital asset management (DAM) software, announced that it has been named a WorldBlu Freedom-Centered Culture™ for the fifth consecutive year. WorldBlu, a global community of organizations devoted to freedom at work, awards this honor to organizations that have built workplace cultures on principles of organizational democracy.

Widen and nearly 200 other companies completed WorldBlu’s rigorous assessment, demonstrating their democratic practices and virtues. Collectively, WorldBlu companies show extraordinary financial performance with average 103 percent annual revenue growth compared to 15 percent among S&P 500 companies.

This year, WorldBlu commended Widen for introducing “Power to the Edge,” a framework that calls for 80 percent of company decisions to be made by employees. It has empowered Wideeners to exercise their unique expertise and judgement, drawing from the close relationships and hands-on support that are the heart of Widen’s customer experience.

In 2018, Widen won a WorldBlu Top Practice Award for Purpose + Vision, which recognized Widen’s efforts to help employees develop a compelling personal vision. Widen’s practice of hiring employees with developmental disabilities has also received acclaim from WorldBlu as a powerful example of Fairness + Dignity.

“Widen is a shining model of a world-class, freedom-centered culture that other businesses should study,” said Traci Fenton, Founder + CEO of WorldBlu. “They understand and practice the democratic principles earnestly and in a highly visionary way. We applaud them for sustaining their place on the WorldBlu List for five consecutive years!”

“Five years ago when we joined the WorldBlu community, none of us could have imagined how deeply it would impact the purpose, meaning, and quality of our work,” said Widen CEO Matthew Gonnering, “We’re proud to stand side-by-side with cultures that cherish human potential and strive to bring out the best in their people.”
