Bjorn Viglundsson has been appointed new Managing Director of Iceland Travel, a subsidiary of Icelandair Group, and Hordur Gunnarsson, who has led the Company during the last decade, has decided to resign. In addition, it is expected that the divestment process of Iceland Travel will start in the Fall.

Bjorn worked as Director at Syn from 2017-2019 where he led the integration of broadcast and web-based media of Vodafone and 365 during the merger of the two companies. Prior to that he had worked in various Director roles at Vodafone since 2005.

“Bjorn has extensive experience in leading sales and marketing activities at top level and it is a pleasure to welcome him to join the Iceland Travel‘s great team of people and take on the challenges and future opportunities of the company,“ says Bogi Nils Bogason, President & CEO of Icelandair Group. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Hordur Gunnarsson for his great contribution to the company over the last decade.“

Hordur will remain at the Company as a consultant over the next few months.
