GeoShepard Launches Android Application to Help Users Better Comply with Regulations

Equipped with all of the same features as the iOS version, GeoShepard Android makes data entry in the highly regulated legal cannabis industry easier than ever

Denver, June 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GeoShepard, a Colorado-based technology company focused on helping marijuana cultivators plan, review and measure crops digitally while capturing and delivering compliance data to government regulation agencies, today announced the launch of the Android version of its mobile cannabis data entry application. The GeoShepard software allows cannabis cultivators to automate the data entry of compliance information into METRC, the end-to-end tracking and tracing solution specifically designed for government agencies regulating legalized marijuana.

By combining a wireless smart scale with a mobile application that removes the friction of entering data into METRC’s portal, GeoShepard eliminates costly mistakes and reduces a considerable amount of labor. The software helps cultivators plan, review and measure crops digitally, aiding in the capture and delivery of compliance data to government agencies, which ultimately regulates the growth and distribution of legal cannabis.

“In the cannabis cultivation industry, keeping track of inventory and weights, growth stages and any movement the plants have done is a pain in the you-know-what,” said Jay Lineberry, CTO at GeoShepard. “Our application allows growers and others in the cultivation process to streamline the monitoring and compliance process to ensure greater accuracy in reporting — all from their smartphone, whether using an iPhone or Samsung Android device. Android functionality has been one of the most requested features since we released GeoShepard, and we are proud to make it available to everyone.”

GeoShepard Android leverages all of the same features as the iOS version, including harvest, waste, change phase, change rooms, package and more. The application allows users to use a smartphone and GeoShepard’s upgraded NTEP certified scales to wirelessly and automatically ingest the METRC barcode and the weight for plants, harvests and packages, change the growth phase of plants, move plants and/or destroy plants before publishing the information to METRC with an admin’s approval. The technology stores all relevant information to the cloud, saving significant time and money and providing additional transparency for cultivators.

Currently, GeoShepard has seen the software monitor the harvesting of more than 350,000 lbs. across 82,000-plus batches, saving users 42% on their harvesting labor costs.
