About the Author

Daniel S. Knowles started writing a story about a mouse named Peter Patridge in 1948, when he was only in fifth grade. By 1956, he had completed one version of the story, some five hundred pages long that included illustrations done in his youth. He added more illustrations in the early 1960s. Some thirty-six years later, after retiring from a career as a firefighter, he completed the tale with a more contemporary version, including basic geological and paleontological information. He has developed some of the characters further and added many hundreds of new ones. The work is directed towards readers ranging in age from five to one hundred.
