GLEN HEAD, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The First of Long Island Corporation (Nasdaq:FLIC) has announced that Milbrey "Missie" Rennie Taylor has been elected in accordance with the Corporation's bylaws to serve as a Class I director effective January 22, 2008. She has also been elected to serve as a director of the Corporation's wholly-owned subsidiary, The First National Bank of Long Island.
Missie is a Strategic and Media Consultant. She has spent over thirty years in the television news business, twenty-five of it at CBS News in New York. At CBS, she was the Executive Producer of CBS News Sunday Morning and the CBS Weekend News for ten years. She was also Vice President of ThirdAge Media, an internet company partly owned by CBS, Inc. She has won eight Emmys and a George Foster Peabody Award.
Prior to CBS, Missie worked at PBS, ABC News and for Mayor John Lindsay and Senator Charles Percy. She was a recipient of Luce Scholarship and worked for NMPC (Channel 2) in Manila, The Philippines.
Ms. Taylor serves on the Boards of The Asia Foundation, The USTA Tennis and Education Foundation, and Common Good and is a member of the President's Advisory Committee at Vassar and Co-Chair of their Capital Campaign. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the International Rescue Committee, is a Selector of the Luce Scholars and is a member of The Council of Foreign Relations.
Previously, she served for eight years as the Board Chair at Miss Porter's School, twelve years on the Board of Vassar College, ten years on the Board of The Nightingale-Bamford School and chaired their Capital Campaign, and six years on the Board of The BreakthroughCollaborative. She was also an advisor to The New York Times Foundation for their 9/11 Fund and on the Advisory Committee for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Ms. Taylor attended Miss Porter's School and Vassar College. She lives in New York City with her husband and two daughters.
