CANYON LAKE, Texas, May 5, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- COPsync, Inc. (OTCBB:COYN), a software technology provider to law enforcement and emergency service professionals, announced today that the Company has installed and trained members of the Hemphill County, Texas Sheriff's Department on the COPsync mobile information sharing solution.
According to Hemphill County Sheriff Gary S. Henderson, the installation of the COPsync Software in patrol vehicles was completed on May 1, 2009. "The addition of COPsync in patrol vehicles will have a profound effect on the way our officers do their job in the field. Not only will COPsync take a burden off of dispatchers, it will expedite the time officers spend on traffic stops," states Sheriff Henderson. "The greatest advantage to COPsync is the real-time information sharing capabilities of the system, giving officers the enhanced ability to communicate with officers from other jurisdictions 'on the fly'. This is one of the greatest improvements to law enforcement in a long time. From an officer safety standpoint, COPsync allows all officers to immediately know the location of any officer in distress and immediately respond. As a retired Texas Ranger, this tool would have been invaluable had it been available during my tenure as a Texas Ranger. The Hemphill County Sheriff's office is proud to team up with COPsync in the advancement of law enforcement technology," continued Sheriff Henderson.
The COPsync software is the first and only integrated software product that provides a real-time, nationwide information sharing network for law enforcement officers. Via a laptop computer or handheld device, the user is able to immediately identify criminals, communicate with other officers, and access life saving and mission critical information. The software assists in expediting the paperwork process to allow officers to do their job more efficiently.
"COPsync, Inc. was launched to fill a large void in the law enforcement community in regards to interoperability and real-time information sharing," stated CEO Russell Chaney. "We are encouraged by the response and commitment we have been receiving among Texas Law Enforcement agencies. As more and more agencies join the COPsync network, the value of the information being shared grows exponentially. We are confident once educated about our solution and its associated benefits, all law enforcement agencies will follow the lead of the Hemphill Sheriffs' department."
