MARIMEKKO STORE OPENS IN COPENHAGEN AIRPORT
Taking another step in its expansion in Scandinavia, Marimekko today opens its own retail store at Copenhagen Airport. Scandinavia has been like another domestic market for Marimekko for decades, and the company seeks to further underpin its position in this market. As the largest and busiest airport in the Nordic countries, Copenhagen Airport is an ideal location for the new store. In 2010, the airport served 21 million Danish and international passengers.
“Copenhagen Airport is very attractive to us not only because of its large passenger flows but also because it has such a fantastic shopping centre with a superb mix of top-class design and fashion brands. By opening a store there, we aim to introduce new audiences to the inspiring world of Marimekko design, in addition to further reinforce our presence in Scandinavia," says Sales Director Päivi Lonka.
The store carries a wide range of interior decoration items, clothing, bags and other accessories in Marimekko’s characteristic prints and colours. It is located in Nytorv in Terminal 3.
At the moment there are a total of nine Marimekko stores in Sweden, Norway and Denmark alongside a number of other dealers.
