The National Law Journal Publishes First-Ever Intellectual Property Hot List

NEW YORK, May 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALM's The National Law Journal today published its inaugural Intellectual Property Hot List, an editorial feature that identifies 20 top law firms with practices that focus significantly on patent, copyright or trademark legal services.

The special report also identifies firms that have demonstrated creative strategies for litigation, patent prosecution, licensing and other transactional work. It appears in the May 7th issue of the newspaper and is also available online now at www.nlj.com.

"The firms on this year's list tilt heavily toward those with a focus on litigation," noted David L. Brown, editor in chief of The National Law Journal. "That's not a surprise, given the volume of big-ticket IP fights that reached as high as the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011."

The law firms selected for the IP Hot List were:

Arnold & Porter

Banner & Witcoff

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton

Cooley

Covington & Burling

Fenwick & West

Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner

Fish & Richardson

Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto

Irell & Manella

Kirkland & Ellis

Loeb & Loeb

McDermott Will & Emery

Morrison & Foerster

Pryor Cashman

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan

Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein Fox

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

Winston & Strawn

Selections were made by the editors of The National Law Journal based upon their reporting and nomination information submitted by law firms. Decisions were based on an evaluation of each firm's litigation results at the trial or appellate levels, including verdicts and settlements; transactions; or other matters completed during calendar year 2011.
