Child Gut Microbiome Patterns Linked to Allergic Diseases

Children with diagnosed eczema or food allergies showed a consistent pattern in their gut microbiomes by 6 months old, compared to healthy peers. 13% lower microbial diversity, 2.2x higher antibiotic resistance signatures, higher inflammation-associated bacteria, delayed microbiome maturation, and lower levels of beneficial gut bacteria.
