Pathways to Shipbuilding for African Nova Scotians Partners

A new program launched today will provide 20 African Nova Scotians with an opportunity to study welding at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) and secure careers with Halifax Shipyard building the Royal Canadian Navy’s future fleet. Program partners celebrated the announced today at Halifax Shipyard, (L-R) Hon. Labi Kousoulis, Nova Scotia Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, Kevin McCoy, President, Irving Shipbuilding Inc., Hon. Tony Ince, Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs, Rev. Dr. LeQuita Porter, President of the Board of the East Preston Empowerment Academy, Rosalind Penfound, Vice President, NSCC, Antonia Wareham, Apprentice Welder at Halifax Shipyard, Andy Fillmore, Member of Parliament for Halifax, William Porter, Co-founder, East Preston Empowerment Academy, and Billy Canning, CWB Welding Foundation.
