Atlas Copco's John Munck Award recognizes control system for mining and
construction equipment

Stockholm, Sweden, April 16, 2008: Atlas Copco's John Munck Award for
achievement within the technical area goes to a design team at Atlas Copco's
Rocktec division. The team is being recognized for the development of an
electronic control system and automation platform that increases machine
performance and improves the working environment.

“The system has increased productivity as well as the user friendliness of our
machines, all very positively recognized by our customers. Not only has this
clearly made Atlas Copco a leader of automation and remote control in mining and
construction equipment, but it is also a great commercial success for Atlas
Copco and its customers,” says Gunnar Brock, President and CEO of the Atlas
Copco Group.

The computerized system collects and monitors all relevant data. With the help
of this information, all essential functions of the rig can be controlled. The
system is modularized and can therefore quickly be adapted to different
Construction and Mining Technique products and also to different levels of
automation and remote control.

The control system has been continuously developed for several years. Since the
introduction of the new technology in 1998, nearly 1 000 systems have been
delivered to Atlas Copco's customers around the world. Jörgen Appelgren will
accept the award on behalf of his design team at Atlas Copco's Rocktec division.

John Munck was one of Atlas Copco's most successful engineers. He worked for the
Group between 1930 and 1970 as Atlas Copco's Technical Director among other
positions. The John Munck Award is presented each year to a product developer or
designer, or a team, for outstanding contributions to the overall quality of an
Atlas Copco product. The award will be presented at the Group's Annual General
Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 24, 2008.
