KEMIRA AGRO PROCEEDS WITH RESTRUCTURING

As a consequence of Kemira Agro's new structure, the reduction of the business and the setting of new goals and working models, the personnel requirement will be reduced by 60 people at the most at the Helsinki and Espoo sites in Finland. Negotiations with the personnel will start next week and continue for a maximum of six weeks. To minimize the effect of the redundancies, solutions such as out-placement and other support packages will be sought.

As defined in the Kemira Group strategy, new ownership arrangements are being sought for Kemira Agro's nitrogen fertilizer business. It is believed that a solution will be worked out by the turn of the year. With this in view Kemira Agro has been divided into Kemira Agro Nitrogen and Kemira Agro Specialties.

Kemira Agro Specialties' mission is to contribute to food security and quality by providing unique solutions to agriculture. Kemira Agro Specialties' vision is to be the preferred partner and supplier in the food chain. Growth will take place through providing novel solutions for selected high-value crop segments globally and for agriculture in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and Central Eastern Europe.

The total personnel at Kemira Agro is 2 800, 800 of whom work in Finland. The total personnel in Espoo and Helsinki is 340.
