Jaakko Pöyry Oy and JP-Kakko Oy, which are a part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group’s Forest Industry business group, have been commissioned to provide pre-engineering and implementation engineering for Stora Enso’s new PM4 to be built at Langerbrugge, Belgium. The implementation engineering will start when the project decision has been made by Stora Enso. Services include plant engineering, structural engineering, co-ordination of the project, erection supervision and start-up assistance. The assignment also includes a document management service covering all parties in the project, which will be implemented by Jaakko Pöyry Group Oyj’s and Elisa Communications Oyj’s joint venture company Inforbis Oy, acting as an Application Service Provider (ASP). This is the first major document management assignment of Inforbis Oy, which was established in January 2001. The total value of the engineering service contracts is about EUR 15 million.
Stora Enso’s investment project at Langerbrugge comprises a new deinking plant, waste paper storage, a new paper machine including finishing equipment, a paper product warehouse, a solid fuel boiler, connections to existing plants and expansions of the fresh water and effluent treatment plants. The new production line will have a capacity of 400 000 tons a year. It is scheduled to be started up at the end of 2002.
The engineering work is a continuation of Stora Enso’s and Jaakko Pöyry’s longstanding co-operation in the implementation of pulp and paper mill projects.
