Electrowatt-Ekono AG Switzerland, which is part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Energy business group, has been awarded a project management and engineering contract for the Uong Bi, Vietnam, power plant extension. The extension will be a 300 MW coal-fired power plant, located some 150 km east of Hanoi. Awarded by Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (LILAMA), the contract value amounts to EUR 11.2 million.
Electricity of Vietnam Corporation has nominated LILAMA as turnkey contractor for the power plant. Electrowatt-Ekono will assist LILAMA in the execution of the project. The work will be performed in cooperation with the Electrowatt-Ekono subsidiaries in South-East Asia.
LILAMA is the leading plant erector in Vietnam with own manufacturing plants and some 17 000 employees. It is involved in Vietnam's major construction projects, comprising thermal and hydro power, pulp and paper as well as oil and gas projects.
The Energy business group, operating under the brand name Electrowatt-Ekono, had net sales of EUR 127 million in 2001. Electrowatt-Ekono has offices in 20 countries and employs 1200 experts worldwide.
