MARLTON, N.J., Feb. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Freedom is the solid foundation of every democratic country, but what happens when a vicious dictator plots to forcefully rob an already troubled country of freedom? Author Roger Norris, offers a disturbing look into the intricacies of international politics and threats of dictatorship in his new novel Never Again! (now available from 1stBooks Library).
As timely as today's headlines, Never Again! outlines the causes and effects of political turmoil besetting third world countries like Zaire and Angola. Norris creatively recreates the brutality of dictatorship through Zomboto Motombe's character. Motombe is the heartless dictator of Angola, who wants to extend his power to neighboring Zaire. He aggressively moves to further incite chaos amidst Zaire's already fragile state of affairs. As conflict between the two warring nations intensifies, innocent victims are caught in the middle prompting the United States government to intervene.
Confusion spreads like wild fire, when rescue efforts undertaken by a U.S. Navy supply ship, the Gemini, results in a clash with two powerful Angolan ships. Here, Norris navigates from blood-curdling slugfest between the lighter armed ship and the destroyers to moving and heart-pounding details of survival and patriotism. Norris also effectively raises intriguing political issues about the allocation of power and the cost of defending other societies.
Author Roger H. Norris grew up in Chatham, N.J. He graduated at the Pennsylvania Military College and served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He served as a plane captain and aviation electronics repairman on the U.S.S. Essex. He also had the opportunity to take on a job in merchant ships. A father of four, Norris is an insurance underwriter and currently resides in Marlton, N.J.
