Nextcode Launches ConnexTo Enterprise, Turning Camera Phones Into Business-Barcode Scanners

Solution Enables Widespread Deployment of Mobile Data Capture Applications

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today, during the 3GSM World Congress, Nextcode Corporation (www.nextcodecorp.com) -- a leader in optical barcode solutions for camera phones, announced the launch of ConnexTo(tm) Enterprise. ConnexTo lets businesses easily deploy robust mobile barcode-scanning applications that use standard camera phones to optically read bar codes.

ConnexTo Enterprise dramatically reduces cost and technical barriers to implementing mobile enterprise applications. It provides companies the benefits of a powerful code scanning system that can be cost-effective for all of their mobile workers. It makes it easy to roll out mobile applications that use field-based data capture -- such as inventory management, time tracking, logistics, courier services, ordering, asset management, and many other applications.

"Today mobile workers all carry cell phones. Many already have the built-in processing power and data communications capabilities that are comparable to expensive mobile scanning systems, however most are just being used for voice," said Jim Levinger, CEO of Nextcode. "With ConnexTo Enterprise, we help companies turn camera phones into powerful tools to capture data, connect to information, and solve business problems."

ConnexTo Enterprise consists of code-scanning client software that is loaded onto camera phones, plus code creation and publishing tools that enable codes to be generated as the business requires. This camera phone application provides excellent scanning capabilities as a low-cost alternative to expensive, bulky, industrial scanning systems. It provides fast, reliable scanning performance in real-world conditions, making it easy to use by mobile workers. ConnexTo requires no special optics, image resolution, or additional hardware. It can be loaded and run on camera phones right out of the box. Nextcode also provides over-the-air download capabilities which allow customers to easily deploy and maintain applications across a remote workforce.

The ConnexTo Enterprise code generation systems enable integration of code creation with enterprise backend-systems. Codes can be created one at a time, automatically, or in batch mode, based on external data feeds.

"We sell thousands of barcode scanning systems each year," said Pat Erwin, President of CHN Technologies. "ConnexTo Enterprise is a very exciting product for us. It provides excellent performance, and since it runs on camera phones, we are able to provide solutions for a lot of applications where we could not with traditional systems."

Beyond supporting traditional barcode formats, ConnexTo uses Nextcode's patent-pending mCode(tm) technology, specifically designed for camera phone applications. mCode's key features include flexible code formats with thousands of code sizes and shapes, dynamic on-screen code generation and embedded graphics. In the consumer market, mCode and the ConnexTo.com services are already used to create and read 2D barcodes that provide rapid access to WAP addresses, SMS messages, contact information and auto-dial phone numbers.
