National highway 7 will be converted on the south-western side of the city of Groningen into a double-lane motorway. The current route will be widened and equipped with new slip roads. The project encompasses the construction of a viaduct, installation of noise barriers and the addition of portals and public lighting.
On the eastern side of the city a new dual-lane motorway will be constructed, along with the Euvelgunnetracé/Beneluxweg junction. The execution of two new viaducts, an underpass, the widening of an existing viaduct and the installation of portals and public lighting are also part of the activities. Heijmans will begin construction in September 2006 and expects completion by May 2008.
In Assen Heijmans will be constructing the Kloosterveen access road and will double the Europaweg-West road. This project includes the construction of two roundabouts, building a steel drawbridge over the Noord-Willemsvaart canal and a viaduct over the Europaweg road, as well as installing four kilometres of noise barriers alongside the Europaweg route. Operations will begin in September 2006 and are expected to be concluded early in 2008.
