Download Audiobooks

Free Downloads From the Delaware County Library System

MEDIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 21, 2007 -- Now you can download recorded versions of your favorite books as WMA files from the Delaware County Library System website -- for free!

The Delaware County Library System (DCLS) announces downloadable audiobooks, digital audio files available to borrow from www.delcolibraries.org with your DCLS library card anytime, anywhere.

"Patrons have been asking about this service for a while," said DCLS Director David Belanger, "and we are excited to be able to offer it at no cost to them."

To check out a downloadable audiobook, simply go to www.delcolibraries.org and click on the orange "Download Audiobooks" icon. Install the free OverDrive Media Console software, then begin browsing our collection of best sellers, classics, nonfiction, children's books, foreign language texts, and more. Check out and download titles to your personal computer. Once on your computer, the audiobook files can be transferred to a portable MP3 player, and some audiobooks can even be burned to CD. For detailed instructions, see the website's helpful "Guided Tour."

Downloadable audiobook files expire automatically after 14 days, so there are no late fees. A valid DCLS library card is required, and patrons are limited to checking out five downloadable audiobooks at one time.

The OverDrive Media Console software will operate on computers running Windows 98SE and above, including Microsoft Vista. At this time, OverDrive's downloadable audiobooks service is not compatible with Apple computers and iPods, due to Apple's rights management restrictions. A list of compatible devices is available on the downloadable audiobooks section of our website.

DCLS is an agency of Delaware County, PA, government that supports 26 member public libraries in Delaware County. Visit www.delcolibraries.org to start downloading now!
