AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch

IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - July 27, 2007) - Retail gas prices inched downward this week in all Texas cities surveyed as the average price for a gallon of self serve regular gasoline fell nearly five and a half cents to $2.85 a gallon, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Although its average weekly retail price fell nearly 11 cents from last week, Amarillo continues to post the highest gas prices in Texas at $3.07 a gallon. For the second week in a row Corpus Christi had the lowest weekly average on the survey at $2.72 a gallon -- down nearly 10 cents from last week.

The national average is $2.935 a gallon -- down more than eight cents from last week. AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline in Texas.

AAA Texas Fuel Savings Tip of the Week

"Cruise control may be a fuel-saving option if you drive a lot on open roads," says AAA Texas spokesperson Paul Flaningan. "Maintaining a steady speed conserves fuel."
