The central government borrowing requirement in October was SEK -1.2 billion (a surplus). The Debt Office's forecast was a borrowing requirement of SEK 1.0 billion. Government finances thus developed slightly stronger than expected.
The deviation is mainly explained by tax income being SEK 4 billion higher than our expectation. This was counteracted by somewhat higher disbursements than forecasted.
Interest payments on central government debt were SEK 1.7 billion, which was SEK 0.4 billion lower than expected.
The borrowing requirement for the twelve-month period up to the end of October was SEK -133 billion (i.e. a surplus). The central government debt was SEK 1,104 billion at the end of October.
The outcome of the central government borrowing requirement for November will be published at 9.30 am on 7 December 2007.
