Control Systems, announced its optional Slot Load disc drive for the
DVD-1150 industrial DVD recorder.
"It's not just aesthetics," said Robert Howard, Vice President of Product
Development. "The slot is easier to use and reduces the possibility of
damaging the drive in heavy-use environments." The slot load drive
occupies the same space as the standard tray drive.
It's All About Control!
The DVD-1150 and DVD-1150HDD have been proven for use with computer control
as well as AMX® and Crestron® controllers. The DVD-1150 provides
two-way communication over RS-232 and USB serial ports so the user is
assured that commands are issued and verified.
4-Character Serial Commands
The DVD-1150 uses the "BCD1" 4-character serial command protocol (STOP,
PLAY, etc.) standard with all BCD products since 1982. The protocol
provides full remote control with complete operational status reporting
including current transport mode, frame position, remaining record time.
Disc Finalize and Erase are each single serial commands (FINL & ERAS)
requiring no on-screen menus. The functions are also available from the
front panel.
1U Rack Form Factor
The DVD-1150 is housed in a rugged aluminum case with rack-ears supplied
for easy operation as a desktop or rack unit. Unlike consumer units, the
case provides easy access for maintenance of mechanical components
Multi-Machine Control -- Built In!
BCD's experience in multiple-machine control makes it easy to operate many
DVD-1150s at once. The unit features dual RS-232 connectors for daisy-chain
control of up to 100 machines from a single serial port. Each recorder is
assigned an address, and machines may be grouped under software control.
The command string "GRUP 1; RECS" causes all recorders in Group 1 to start
recording at the same time. This is particularly useful for government and
military applications when multiple sources must be recorded
simultaneously.
The DVD-1150 occupies 1 rack space and is equipped with a single DVD +R/+RW
drive, VFD information display, Composite and S-Video I/O, dual DB-9 serial
control, USB-B serial control, and an RJ-45 jack for optional web server
control. The DVD-1150 is also available as the DVD-1150HDD with a hard disk
drive as well as optional 12VDC power for mobile operation. The DVD-1150 is
available now at a suggested list price under $2000.
