Microsemi PowerDsine Midspans Added to Mitel DataNet Portfolio

Exclusive Agreement Provides Power over Ethernet for Mitel VoIP Solutions

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 20, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, and Mitel Networks, a leader in VoIP communications, have agreed to add the full line of PowerDsine(R) midspan products from Microsemi as exclusive power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions for Mitel DataNet's comprehensive product portfolio.

Mitel's DataNet division designs, distributes, and supports an integrated, comprehensive solution for their customers' complex data and telecommunications needs. The complete integration and validation of the LAN, WAN infrastructure, along with the implementation of state-of-the-art security technologies, allows Mitel to provide the right environment for successful VoIP implementations.

"By forming this relationship with Microsemi, Mitel now has the option to power our IP Phones and partner WLAN access points and cameras with PowerDsine midspans, the most advanced and manageable power injectors in the market," said Ryan Donovan, Mitel DataNet National Sales Director. "PowerDsine PoE midspans from Microsemi are the optimal solution for customers seeking to deploy VoIP when they have sufficient switch hardware, but lack PoE capability. With PowerDsine midspans our overall system can have smart on-demand power availability, with secure manageability and IPv6 compatibility."

All PowerDsine products -- ranging from single-port to 48-port midspans -- are offered through the Mitel DataNet division, including the new high power PD9000G family that supports IEEE802.3at devices and uniquely can provide mutual midspan backup.

"The new Mitel DataNet agreement leverages all the features available in the PowerDsine product line, allowing Mitel customers to migrate to VoIP while upgrading their underlying infrastructure to include power over Ethernet -- but without having to replace their existing Ethernet switches," said Sani Ronen, Product Marketing Manager for PowerDsine products at Microsemi.
