EnerNOC Champions Innovation Through Sponsorship of MIT Clean Energy Prize

BOSTON, March 16, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of clean and intelligent energy management applications, announced today that it has once again sponsored the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Clean Energy Prize, a demonstration of its commitment to solving global energy challenges through technology innovation.

"Year after year, the MIT Clean Energy Prize brings together the nation's most promising entrepreneurs, software developers, and engineers focused on solving what is perhaps the biggest challenge of our generation. The award also consistently highlights the importance of coupling business pragmatism with technology ingenuity, both of which speak to the core values on which EnerNOC was built. We've seen first-hand the power of data to transform the energy industry, and we are proud to provide a mechanism by which talented innovators can continue to push the envelope," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO.

The MIT Clean Energy Prize is a top business plan competition open to all full-time students in the United States. Winning teams will receive cash and other prizes, including legal advice and administrative support to help commercialize clean energy innovations in Massachusetts and throughout the world. The winner of the EnerNOC sponsored category is also eligible for the $200,000 NSTAR and US Department of Energy Grand Prize.

"The energy management industry is still in the early innings with only a handful of companies standing out with commercially viable products that deliver real value to energy users and utilities. Competitions like the Clean Energy Prize fuel the market's future growth and help new technologies mature into solid business models," said David Brewster, EnerNOC's President.

The 24 teams named as this year's semi-finalists, in a release yesterday by MIT, represent some of the most promising clean energy technologies and business ideas coming out of universities this year. All teams, which are comprised by at least 50% students along with industry specialists, represent 14 different colleges across the country from MIT to the University of Southern California. Additional information regarding the MIT Clean Energy Prize and the full competition is available at www.mitcep.org.
