LONDON and WOBURN, Mass., June 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Looking to further expand its international presence and build on its recent global growth, LogMeIn, Inc. (Nasdaq:LOGM) just opened a new UK office. The company's new London office will serve to more rapidly meet the UK's demand for remote access, collaboration, and support solutions -- demand impacted by the growing number of internet-enabled devices, including netbooks and mobile devices like the BlackBerry®, iPhone®, iPad™ and Android phones. Market research firm IDC forecasts that worldwide shipments of converged mobile devices (commonly referred to as smartphones) will reach 226.8 million units in 2010, up 30.7 percent from the 173.5 million units in 2009 -- shipments will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.4 percent and reach a total of 439.4 million units worldwide in 2014. ABI Research estimates that annual sales of netbooks will reach 58 million by 2015 and forecasts the sale of about 8 million tablets in 2010, alone.
Thousands of UK small businesses, mobile professionals and consumers use LogMeIn's products to remotely access PCs and Macs, and support millions of remote computers and mobile devices. This group includes an avid community of small businesses, mobile professionals and consumers using the company's flagship LogMeIn Free and LogMeIn Pro² remote access products, as well as organizations like Virgin Digital Help/Sutherland, Iris, and Sophos who use products like LogMeIn Rescue and LogMeIn Central to remotely manage and support their customers' and workers' devices. Five of the world's top ten mobile carriers use LogMeIn to remotely support devices, including two of the top four mobile carriers in the UK. In addition, the LogMeIn Ignition for iPad app has been among the top 20 grossing apps in Apple's UK iTunes Store since the iPad's debut in the UK this past May. LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone is currently the top grossing productivity app in the UK.
"The UK has proven to be one of our best performing markets and features a highly mobile, web-enabled population -- an ideal target audience for LogMeIn's products and a good fit for adopting and evangelizing new technologies," said Michael Simon, CEO of LogMeIn. "We believe the UK presents a great environment for our international expansion and the growth of our global business."
The new office complements LogMeIn's European operations in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and Hungary (Budapest, Szeged), Asia Pacific operations in Australia (Sydney), and North American operations in the United States (Woburn, Massachusetts).
