1350-1360 Rene-Levesque Receives AQME Energia 2012 Award for Recommissioning Project

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 12, 2013) - Canderel is pleased to announce that on February 6th of this year, 1350-1360 René-Lévesque in Montreal, was the proud recipient of the Association Québécoise pour la Maîtrise de l'Énergie (AQME), Énergia 2012 Award in the Recommissioning Project category. The AQME is a private organization made up of nearly 800 members whose mission is to promote energy efficiency and sustainable development in the province of Quebec. The award was granted for work completed by the engineering firm Bouthillette Parizeau to optimise the performance of the property's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). Evaluation criteria took into consideration energy savings, as well as the economic, social and environmental impacts resulting from the project.

Built in 2003, the property was certified BOMA BESt, Level 3 in 2011 and is currently pursuing LEED® for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance certification (LEED EBOM). The recommissioning project, which resulted in a 25% decrease in annual energy use, was undertaken as part of Canderel's efforts to maximise building performance. The gain in efficiency represents greenhouse gas emissions reductions equivalent to taking more than 130 cars off the road and savings of over $200,000 in annual energy costs.

"Canderel is honoured to receive this award," said Jonathan Wener, Chairman and CEO of the Canderel Group of Companies. "It not only acknowledges the great work undertaken by our property management team and consulting engineers Bouthillette Parizeau, but it also provides a concrete example of what we seek to achieve through our sustainability program, On the Green Path. The implementation of initiatives which offer clear benefits to both the environment and to our tenants through reduced energy costs. We truly appreciate the support offered by the owners of the property, KanAm Grund, in this important energy reduction project."

1350-1360 René-Lévesque is a Class AAA office building covering nearly one million square feet and offering tenant amenities such as a food court, convenience store and financial and courier services. In addition to seeking LEED EBOM certification, the property is currently certified BOMA BESt, Level 3. Recent environmental initiatives at the property include the implementation of an organics recycling program in the food court, upgrades to the washroom fixtures and fittings, and the establishment of a "Green Zone" in the parking garage dedicated to hybrid and electric vehicles.
