Applied DNA Sciences Featured on New York City's ABC-TV Affiliate on May 7

News Segment Spotlights Company's "Fiber Forward" DNA Marking Program to Deliver Textile Authenticity and Traceability for Consumers

STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwired - May 11, 2015) - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: APDN) (Twitter: @APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology, supply chain and product authentication solutions, was featured in a segment during the evening news on the ABC-TV affiliate in New York City (WABC-TV) on May 7.

The segment, titled "How To Avoid Counterfeit Items So Good They Might Be On Store Shelves," featured the growing problem of counterfeiting in the apparel world, and went on to describe APDN's SigNature®T DNA and fiberTyping® fiber forward program which provides traceability and authenticity assurance at every stage of the textile and apparel supply chain.

Divatex, a leading supplier of home textiles, appeared alongside Applied DNA Sciences in the segment, and has initiated an unprecedented program to mark their luxury cotton fibers with DNA.

David Greenstein, CEO of Divatex, remarked, "How do we get to really know what we're buying? Not at the end when we have a product with a problem, but at the beginning." APDN marks the cotton at the very top of the supply chain, during ginning just after the cotton is picked.

"It's the first time we have traceability information that tells us from the birth of the product to the end of its life exactly where it came from," Applied DNA Sciences' MeiLin Wan said. "Who made it, when it was made."
