Markku Koponen, 58, will resign from his position as OP Financial Group's central cooperative's Executive Board deputy member and secretary, and Chief Legal Officer on 31 December 2016. The search for his successor is to begin immediately.
Mr Koponen will remain as the Group's Chief Legal Officer until his successor takes up his duties in the next autumn or so. After that, he will remain as the Executive Board's deputy member until the end of 2016.
Mr Koponen has held various positions within OP Financial Group for over 30 years. He has been the Executive Board's deputy member since 2009 and secretary since 1996.
- Markku Koponen's long career has involved all major corporate transactions in OP Financial Group during the last 25 years. He played a vital role in, for example, the implementation of the Pohjola acquisition and, in most recently, of Pohjola's delisting.
