Red Sox AA Pitcher of the Year Blake Wehunt Joins EARNED

Boston Red Sox prospect becomes the latest professional player to join the growing EARNED roster

Massachusetts

BOSTON, Sept. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EARNED, a Massachusetts-based baseball culture apparel brand founded by two young brothers, announced today that Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Blake Wehunt has joined EARNED.

Known to Red Sox fans as the “Chicken Farmer,” Wehunt put together a breakout 2026 season in the Red Sox organization, earning Pitcher of the Year honors with Double-A Portland before being promoted to Triple-A Worcester.

The right-hander went 5-4 with a 3.52 ERA and 72 strikeouts across 53.2 innings for Portland. His season included consecutive Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors, making him the first pitcher in Portland Sea Dogs history to win the award in back-to-back weeks.

“We’re Red Sox fans, so having Blake join EARNED is really awesome,” said Jack and Thomas, EARNED Co-Founders. “He had an amazing season, made it all the way to Triple-A, and his nickname is the Chicken Farmer, which might be the best nickname in baseball. We can’t wait to follow him and hopefully see him pitching at Fenway someday.”

The nickname comes from Wehunt’s life away from baseball. A Georgia native, Wehunt has worked on his family’s chicken farm during the offseason, earning him one of the more distinctive nicknames in the Red Sox organization.

Selected by Boston in the ninth round of the 2023 MLB Draft, Wehunt has progressed through the Red Sox organization from the Florida Complex League to Salem, Greenville, Portland and Worcester.

His addition to Team EARNED continues the brand’s growing connection with professional players, top prospects and baseball leaders who represent the game at every level.

For Jack and Thomas, building those relationships brings EARNED back to why they started the brand in the first place: their love of baseball and everything that surrounds the game.

“The coolest thing about baseball is that even guys like Blake who are almost in the big leagues still love a lot of the same things about baseball that we do,” said Jack and Thomas. “You have teammates, road trips, dugouts and all the stuff that makes baseball fun. We think that’s what EARNED is about.”

Wehunt joins a growing Team EARNED roster as the brand continues expanding its presence throughout baseball.

Welcome to Team EARNED, Chicken Farmer.
