North Vector Dynamics Closes Series A Exceeding USD $20 Million, One of Canada’s Largest Defence Technology Financings

Major investment to advance sovereign air and missile defence capability

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct. 26, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- North Vector Dynamics (NVD), a Canadian-owned and controlled defence technology company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, has closed a Series A round exceeding $20 million USD ($29 million CAD) that values the company at more than $90 million USD.

The close of the Series A round validates NVD’s team and the promise of is technology to protect and defend NATO Allies and partners across the globe.

NVD’s initial commercial product is CM-70, a low-cost, precision-guided counter-drone missile interceptor. CM-70 is designed to provide effective modern air defence by neutralizing threats posed by the high-speed, highly maneuverable unmanned aerial systems (UAS) currently threatening western Allies and partners in Ukraine and the Gulf.
The system is ITAR-free and based on an open architecture designed to easily integrate with existing layered air defence architectures.

The Series A funding will allow NVD to build out manufacturing and assembly, increase vertical integration, secure its supply chain, open new offices in the United States and Europe, and attract new talent.

“Allied forces need affordable, producible air defence at scale, and they need it now,” said Dr. Paul Ziadé, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, North Vector Dynamics. “This round gives us the capital and the industrial reach to move from validation toward production volume and into Allied markets.”

The development of CM-70 aligns with Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy and has been supported through early funding and ongoing testing support from Defence Research and Development Canada, a Department of National Defence (DND) agency.

North Vector Dynamics was established in 2022 to develop next-generation technologies for air and missile defence. The company was co-founded by CEO Dr. Paul Ziadé and Chief Science Officer Dr. Craig Johansen, both former engineering professors at the University of Calgary, together with Dr. Colin Hill, who brings expertise in rocket propulsion and aerodynamics. General (Ret) Tom Lawson, who served as the senior military commander of the Canadian Armed Forces, serves as a Strategic Advisor.

The Series A round was led by Tech Horizons, a European venture capital fund focused on defence, security, and resilience technologies that invested in NVD’s Seed round, with participation from ONE9, Garage Capital, CSG, Ripple Ventures, Feld Ventures, and Conconi Growth Partners and others.

“When we invested in North Vector Dynamics this spring as its first European investor, we were convinced above all by the exceptional calibre of its founding team and its technological vision,” said Matej Luhový, Partner, Tech Horizons.

“The company’s founders have successfully translated world-class research into a solution addressing one of the defining challenges of today’s battlefields: how to protect soldiers and critical infrastructure from large-scale drone and loitering munition attacks in a cost-effective manner. The successful completion of the Series A round validates our original investment thesis and reinforces our belief that technologies like these will play a decisive role in strengthening the defence capabilities of democratic nations.”
