CHRYSLER WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM WILSHIRE 5000 INDEX

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 2, 1998 (PRIMEZONE) -- Effective November 12, 1998, Chrysler (NYSE: C) common stock will be excluded from the Wilshire 5000 Index. This action is a result of Chrysler's merger with Daimler Benz (NYSE: DAI).

Even though Daimler Chrysler does intend on maintaining a headquarter office in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the terms of the merger make it clear that the newly formed company will be German based. By policy, the Wilshire 5000 Index includes only stocks of U.S. domiciled companies. Going forward, investors will access Daimler Chrysler through European stock indices.

The Wilshire 5000 Index is the broadest measure of U.S. equity performance, including all U.S. publicly traded companies. Wilshire Associates Incorporated provides investment analytics, consulting and asset management services to client organizations globally.
