PIMCO Appoints Robert A. Ettl Chief Information Officer


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Sept. 7, 1999 (PRIMEZONE) -- PIMCO Advisors Holdings L.P. (NYSE:PA) today announced that its largest investment management unit, Pacific Investment Management Company, has appointed Robert A. Ettl to the position of Chief Information Officer. Ettl, who joined PIMCO in 1995, was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of PIMCO's Global Unit.

"Bob has the necessary vision, industry knowledge, energy and the demonstrated ability to deliver the results that this position requires," said William S. Thompson, Managing Director and CEO of Pacific Investment. "We were fortunate that we were able to find exactly who we needed in house."

Ettl, 40, has over 15 years of investment experience and previously held senior management positions in Salomon Brothers' trading analytics, technology, and operations divisions. Prior to Salomon, he was associated with Arthur Andersen & Company as a senior consultant. Ettl earned both his bachelor's degree in Economics and MBA in Finance from Columbia University.
