Shares in online education provider Digital Think (Nasdaq:DTHK) more than doubled Friday in their first day of trading on the NASDAQ. At the close of market on Friday shares traded up $15 to $29, and were trading as high as $38 1/2 intraday on Monday. The San Francisco based company raised more than $60 million in its debut after pricing its 4.4 million-share offering at $14 per share through lead underwriter Credit Suisse First Boston.
Not to be out done, shares of Dallas-based Hotel Reservations Network, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROOM) were well received on the Street after its $86.4 million IPO of 5.4 million shares priced at $16, sharply above its expected price range of $11-13. Shares of the company rose 10 to 26, up 63 percent, for the Friday session and traded slightly down intraday on Monday. Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette was the lead manager for the offering.
The price of Carrier1 International SA's (Nasdaq:CONE) ADRs (American Depository Receipts) doubled in their NASDAQ debut on Thursday, as U.S. investors were eager to participate in a European company building high-performance alternatives to traditional telecommunications services. Shares of the Swiss facilities-based telecommunications carrier rose $17 1/2 to $34 1/2 in its first day of U.S. trading after the company sold 9.375 million shares in an IPO at a price of $17.48 per ADR through lead underwriter Morgan Stanley.
Quenching investors' thirsts for anything to do with the wireless sector, shares of wireless communications service provider Nextel Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTP) climbed 50 percent following its debut on Wednesday. Shares of Nextel Partners traded up 10 1/8 to 30 1/8 on the NASDAQ after the company's $470 million IPO. The 23.5 million-share offering was priced at $20 per share through joint lead underwriters Goldman Sachs and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
