MVALUE.com Names General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer


LOS ANGELES, June 7, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- MVALUE.com, Inc. (www.mvalue.com), an Internet company that places the control of personal online information in the hands of consumers and pays its members cash for personal data, today announced that Jonathan D. Avila has joined the company as General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer.

Avila brings to MVALUE nearly a decade of experience in the field of informational privacy. From 1992 to 1999, Avila was Litigation Counsel to CBS Corp., where he specialized in news media privacy and defamation issues. Prior to joining MVALUE, Avila also was of counsel to the Los Angeles media law firm of White O'Connor Curry Gatti & Avanzado. Avila is the author of "Food Lion and Beyond: New Developments in the Law of Hidden Cameras" published by the American Bar Association in the winter, 1999 issue of Communications Lawyer. Avila has spoken to many groups on the subjects of informational privacy and media law.

Avila will be responsible for MVALUE.com's internal and external privacy controls and practices, making sure that client information is secure at all times. He will also monitor federal and state actions and legislation regarding privacy and the Internet. Additionally, Avila will be available to discuss these issues with the media and coordinate with on-line and consumer privacy organizations.

Avila earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1984. He received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude from Yale in 1979. Avila began his legal career as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and later practiced law with the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins.
