Legendary Ray Charles Concert Set For April 12, 2001


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., March 2, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Welcome Homes, Michigan's only retirement community for the visually impaired, is proud to bring Ray Charles to DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids, on April 12, 2001, at 7 p.m.

"We are currently celebrating our 50th Anniversary providing independent living to visually impaired adults," said Welcome Homes Executive Director, Kathy Higgins. "To have Ray Charles kick off our anniversary year is a dream come true. He is not only one of the World's most recognized singers, he is a living testament to our mission to help people with visual impairments lead productive lives."

"An Evening With Ray Charles" will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2001, at DeVos Hall. Local jazz singer Edye Evans Hayes will open the evening.

Tickets are available beginning March 3, 2001, at the Grand Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet by calling (616) 456-3333. Tickets cost $20, $35, $50 and $75. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Welcome Homes' Resident Service Fund.
