UTC, SiteSafe Partner to Expand Spectrum and Engineering Services

WASHINGTON, March 9, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- The United Telecom Council (UTC), a global trade association for utilities, pipelines, other critical infrastructure companies, and their technology partners, and SiteSafe LLC, an experienced telecommunications engineering firm, have partnered to better help utilities and other communications users launch, expand or enhance their communications systems.

Under the new agreement, SiteSafe will become UTC's contractor for the application preparation, frequency coordination, technical consulting and engineering services provided to UTC members and its other customers. The relationship will mean a significant expansion of UTC's suite of technical services, while providing SiteSafe customers with the services of FCC-certified Private Land Mobile Radio Service frequency coordinators and legal/regulatory support. Operating under the name "UTC Spectrum Services, Powered by SiteSafe," the spectrum services/engineering operation will be headquartered out of SiteSafe's offices in Arlington, Va.

"We are excited about our new strategic partnership with SiteSafe and the opportunity to provide a wider variety of frequency coordination and spectrum engineering services to our members and the industry as a whole," said UTC President and CEO Bill Moroney. "As we enter a period of growing strain on our nation's energy infrastructure, radio spectrum usage by utilities is becoming more and more important to ensuring the safety and reliability of America's electric and gas systems. The new UTC Spectrum Services powered by SiteSafe will dramatically strengthen our ability to support our members as they meet this critical challenge."

"As the longtime representative of the utility telecom community, UTC was an obvious choice to help our company expand to provide service to the utility telecom market," said SiteSafe President and CEO Wesley McGee. "We look forward to working with UTC's members and customers, and to providing our expertise in technical services while maintaining the traditionally high level of spectrum service quality they already enjoy."
