Financeware Provides Educators $2.6 Million in Software Licenses for Free

RICHMOND, Va., May 2, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- In an effort to help professional educators in the financial services field teach the practical implications of giving financial advice, Financeware, a Richmond-based provider of online probability analysis tools and marketing strategies for financial advisors and investors, announced today a program to grant free licenses of its wealth management software to educators for use with students online. The free accounts are valued at $2.6 million.

"Our new Educational Accounts Program allows professors and those in continuing education to expose their students to a new process of providing financial advice. There are many theories taught in school; our focus is on helping those who give financial advice understand the reality of meeting the goals of the people they serve," David B. Loeper, Chairman and CEO of Financeware, said.

The software allows educators and their students to input financial plans into Financeware's Web-based system and to test the financial plans against a number of different scenarios. These simulations allow students to see the practical implications -- including the chances of success or failure -- of a financial plan. Educators can input an entire class roster by simply uploading a text file into the system. And because Financeware's software allows for online collaboration, a professor can monitor a student's progress or collaborate online to solve case study problems. Educators will also be able to access all of their students' work from a single login and to grade case studies online. This is the same functionality that professional financial advisors have in working with their clients on the Financeware site.

The program is available to any educator in higher learning by completing a subscription form available online at www.financeware.com/Learn.pdf. The form requires the educational subscription be used only for non-commercial purposes. More information about the program is available at www.education.financeware.com.
