AUGSBURG, Germany, May 8, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- BOEWE SYSTEC shows a clear growth in sales and disproportionate increase in results in the first quarter of 2001:


 -- Sales increased by 10% to DM 94.0 million (EUR 48.1 million) 
 -- Post-tax results increased by 20% to DM 3.6 million
    (EUR 1.8 million) 

BOEWE SYSTEC AG (GER:BSY) (WKN 523 970), Augsburg, the European market leader for high-performance inserting systems and associated services, once again shows a positive development. At 10%, the Group's growth in sales in the first quarter of 2001 once again lay above the average for the industry. Compared with a figure of DM 85.7 million (EUR 43.8 million) in the previous year, the sales in the last quarter was DM 94.0 million (EUR 48.1 million). The Group's results also grew disproportionately to the growth in sales. The results from the usual business activities increased by 16% from DM 5.6 million (EUR 2.9 million) to DM 6.5 million (EUR 3.3 million). A particular contributory factor here was the marked improvement of the profits of the U.S. subsidiary. After taxes the Group's results increased by as much as 20% to DM 3.6 million (EUR 1.8 million) compared with DM 3.0 million (EUR 1.5 million) in the previous year.
