AmeriCares and AccuWeather Join Forces for Rapid Response to Weather-Related Disasters

NEW CANAAN, Conn., May 14, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) - AmeriCares(r), the international disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, announced today a strategic partnership with AccuWeather, Inc., the World's Weather Authority(tm).

AccuWeather will provide AmeriCares with up-to-the-minute weather information around the world and access to its 100 meteorologists -- the most forecasting under one roof, anywhere -- 24 hours a day. This information will enable AmeriCares to more efficiently maintain its relief readiness. Known for its quick response to both natural and man-made crises, AmeriCares has found yet another way to stay two steps ahead of potential weather-related disasters by establishing this partnership with AccuWeather.

AccuWeather will also feature a link from its Website to AmeriCares' home page, allowing Web browsers to find out more about AmeriCares' emergency response when hurricanes, tornadoes, mud slides, floods and tsunamis strike. AmeriCares' Website could potentially receive an additional 1,000,000 impressions per month from this on-line agreement.

"AmeriCares is thrilled to team up with AccuWeather in this forward- thinking approach to relief preparation," stated Robert C. Macauley, Founder and Chairman of AmeriCares. "This strategic partnership will enable AmeriCares to more readily determine the magnitude of each disaster and the quantity of the relief supplies that are needed."

"AccuWeather's 400 staff members are pleased to lend their talents to AmeriCares and its efforts to alleviate worldwide suffering by providing these forecasts and information which can help their staff provide timely advance notification of severe weather events to those who may be effected anywhere in the world," Dr. Joel N. Myers, AccuWeather Founder and President, noted.
