Telia Mobile First to Offer GPRS Roaming Throughout the Nordic Region

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- As the first mobile operator in the Nordic region, Telia Mobile is offering customers the possibility to use GPRS services when roaming throughout the Nordic region. This GPRS roaming capability will be available already in February of this year. During the first quarter, Telia Mobile will offer customers cost-free GPRS access when they are in one of the other Nordic countries and use Telia's mobile networks (including NetCom ASA's network in Norway) for their communication.

"This GPRS roaming capability represents another step in the realization of our pan-Nordic strategy. By offering customers GPRS roaming in the Nordic countries, the benefits and application areas for mobile data services will increase," said Kenneth Karlberg, President of Telia Mobile AB.

Telia is offering customers the opportunity to test GPRS access free of charge during February and March when travelling in the Nordic region (except Iceland) and utilizing Telia's networks. The offer is valid for all Telia Mobile customers in Sweden, Finland and Denmark, as well as for NetCom ASA's customers in Norway, excluding prepaid card customers. To gain access to GPRS roaming, customers must have subscribed to GPRS access as an additional service at one of the respective companies.

In connection with the launch of GPRS roaming, Telia is also launching national GPRS access for a limited number of large enterprise customers in Denmark.
