Allgon Chosen as First Supplier of 3G Equipment


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Allgon, the global supplier of radio-based infrastructure solutions for cellular communications, has been awarded a Letter of Intent by one of the major European system suppliers for next generation (3G) mobile phone and data systems.

Allgon will develop and supply integrated filter panels for their UMTS base stations over several years, starting early 2002. This includes, Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), directional couplers, splitters and other equipment, which are crucial for obtaining high radio quality in UMTS services.

This agreement provides the European system supplier with Allgon's unique competence and experience of advanced base station technology.

- The agreement was signed in hard competition with several other technology suppliers, and confirms Allgon's 3G competence, says Jeff Bork, CEO of Allgon.

This is the second award in short time for Allgon for this type of equipment and further strengthens Allgon's position as one of the major players in delivering RF-products for mobile infrastructure.
