Sectra Announces Cooperation Agreement with MD OnLine

LINKOPING, Sweden, Feb. 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Swedish medical technology and IT company Sectra has signed an agreement with MD OnLine (MDOL), an industry leader in computer-aided diagnostic support software, for the integration of MDOL's ImageMatch technology in Sectra's digital radiology systems.

Through the agreement, MDOL's software ImageMatch is seamlessly integrated into Sectra's system for handling digital radiology images, which enhances and facilitates the workflow of radiologists.

"With these kinds of co-operations we increase the number of applications available to our customers," says Jakob Algulin, manager for Sectra's Clinical Solutions Program. "By letting third party companies provide their expertise and products on our platform, we create the most open solution on the market. All with the aim of maximizing the benefit that our customers get from our workstation in handling digital radiology images."

MDOL's ImageMatch service allows physicians to quickly match their patient cases to ones with similar pathology in the MDOL database. Within seconds, the graphic-based ImageMatch search engine interrogates the MDOL database over the Internet and presents images with like pathology prioritized according to the closest match to the query image.

"The co-operation with Sectra will increase MDOL's availability in European and global markets and offer users of Sectra's workstation the opportunity to increase their diagnostic confidence by quickly accessing relevant clinical information," says Victor Ruiz, MDOL's chief operating officer.
