Skanska Awarded Another Power Contract in New York Valued at USD 39.9 M, or SEK 424 M

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Skanska's U.S. subsidiary, Slattery Skanska, has been awarded another contract from KeySpan Energy Development Corp. to construct an additional power plant in Port Jefferson, New York. The contract is valued at USD 39.9 M, or about SEK 424 M. In December last year, Slattery Skanska was awarded a similar project by the same customer valued at USD 33.4 M, or about SEK 355 M.

This new project is located at KeySpan's Port Jefferson Energy Center in Suffolk County on the north shore of Long Island. The new power plant is scheduled to be completed in June 2002 to meet the expected power peak demands during the summer months. The two-unit gas turbine generator units are designed to generate a total of 79.9 megawatts of electrical power.

Slattery Skanska is responsible for construction of the entire power plant and will coordinate and assist in the start up commissioning of the equipment and systems.

Gottlieb Skanska, Inc. will be working with Slattery Skanska in an internal consortium on the project.
