ProAct to Centralise the Backup Environment in ABN AMRO Bank, Switzerland

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 15, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- ProAct Datasystems AG in February signed a Letter of Intent with the Swiss bank ABN AMRO for the implementation of a new centralised backup solution.

In the ABN AMRO Bank, one of the leading international banks, security is one of the most important issues. ABN AMRO Bank has decided to invest in new infrastructure in the backup and recovery area to improve reliability, availability, disaster recovery procedures, and reduce the need for human intervention. The parties have now signed a Letter of Intent stating that ProAct has been chosen as the strategic partner for the design and implementation of the new solution.

As a result of the project, the existing Legato NetWorker environment will be centralized and complemented by the integration of new StorageTek tape libraries. The implementation of the new ProAct FRC- koncept, Fast Restore Cache (FRC) accelerates the restore process substantially.

With the realisation of the new backup project, the ABN AMRO Bank optimises data security, service level agreements, performance, and disaster recovery scenarios.

"One of the main drivers for the new solution was the disaster recovery capabilities and reduction of human intervention in the backup and recover process," says Thierry Abbet, IT-Manager at ABN AMRO N.V.

"With our many years experience in large scale backup- and storage- installations in cooperation with the IT-team of the ABN AMRO bank, we can guarantee an efficient and successful project. Close cooperation with the customer in workshops as well as an intensive project preparation are building blocks for the success "says Stephan Schneider, Managing Director of ProAct Datasystems AG.

The deal is worth an estimated 500.000 CHF (approximately E335.000 Euro).
