Scan Con Airways becomes First Saab 340 Customer in Denmark

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 21, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scan Con Airways, with bases in Thisted and Alborg, Denmark, will introduce a Saab 340 to its fleet this month. The company, 100% owned by Scandinavian Contractors Denmark, becomes the first Danish operator of the 340, and revenue service will commence on the new Copenhagen Roskilde -- Alborg route on March 1.

Scan Con Airways' Managing Director Thomas Madsen commented that the airline is delighted upgrading to the Saab 340 previously flying Shorts 360 and Embraer Bandeirante flights on its domestic scheduled network.

"The Saab 340 is a comfortable and reliable mini airliner. It has an excellent interior and our crews are looking forward to flying it," said Thomas Madsen. "We are delighted to welcome the start of Saab 340 operations in Denmark with Scan Con," said Michael Magnusson, President of Saab Aircraft Leasing.

"The 340 continues to be a popular choice for smaller regional operators moving up from 19-seat unpressurized and 30-seat aircraft and we look forward to working with Thomas Madsen and his team to ensure that the aircraft has successful entry into service in Denmark."

Some 20% of Scan Con Airways passengers will be Scandinavian Contractors Denmark employees. In total the airline expects to carry 30,000 passengers this year on a network and which links Copenhagen with Thisted/Alesund, plus Alborg -- Oslo.

Maintenance on the 340 will be carried out by Business Flight of Sindal, Denmark.
